The Balfour Declaration of 1917 was the first step which led to the League of Nations' Mandate for Palestine, which provided the legal basis for the eventual creation of the State of Israel in 1948 (Canada was a member of the League of Nations).

The Mandate is still valid under international law (according to the United Nations article 80). We invite you to this remarkable event where you will hear about the ongoing significance of this document for Jews, Christians and Muslims in today's world.
