A group of Canadian supporters of Israel recently met to form a new organization, "Canadians for Balfour 100."

 

As one founding member, Don Carr told his colleagues at their most recent meeting:

 

"We need to stop defensive responses to Arab propaganda. Facts are distorted. Anti-Israel narrative is rampant. Outright lies are part of Arab League PR campaigns. They have achieved success across the world -- and we have to go on the offensive – across the world! The 100th anniversary of the Balfour Declaration is a great springboard for advancing an assertive, international PR campaign, including social media, supported/sponsored/assisted by all organizations which have a stake in the truth."

Don will be working side by side with noted Canadian pro-Israel activists Irving Weisdorf, Goldi Steiner, Dr. Jacques Gauthier, Leo Adler, Stephen Posen, Shirley Anne Haber, Robert Grant, Larry Zeifman, and Professor Salim Mansur, as well as noted philanthropist Dov Friedberg.

The Balfour Declaration, an official letter of the British Government was published on November 2, 1917. Some view it as the birth certificate of the State of Israel, it being a letter of intent by the British Government to establish a National Home for the Jewish People in Palestine, the ancient land of Israel. Canadians for Balfour 100 will be dedicating the year 2017 and beyond to clarifying the historical, political, moral and legal obligations of Canada as well as the international community to stand by the State of Israel.

Canadians for Balfour 100 is not a political lobby. Its goal is to educate the general public, especially students in our schools, colleges and universities. Irving Weisdorf contends:

 

"We believe it is our duty to stand firm, to defend those rights and to share the true story of the rise of Israel since the Declaration was first announced, almost one hundred years ago."

As Holocaust survivor Goldi Steiner puts it:

 

"Canada fought the good fight. It participated in the Allied defeat of the Nazis. It was a signatory to the Mandate for Palestine which gives Israel its land rights west of the Jordan. So, despite an onslaught of anti-Semitic anti-Zionism which is invading our mainstream media and universities, Canadians for Balfour 100 will tell the true story of Israel as the reconstituted nation state of the Jewish people since the Balfour Declaration until its 100th anniversary, during the years ahead. The public has a right to know the truth!”

Canadians for Balfour 100 are in the process of creating an umbrella organization of universal scope, comprised of all just and peace-loving peoples.
